Hear about local issues and responses.

Gather: From 9am, Highfield Trinity Church, 2 Highfield Place, S2 4UR for a 9:30am start

Visit: Highfield Trinity Church, Heeley Parish Church, Heeley City Farm, St Wilfrid’s Centre for the homeless, vulnerable and socially excluded, with stops at relevant locations to pray for the homeless, education, healthcare social justice and the environment.

Meet: People tackling local social challenges.

Length: 2.2 miles

End: 2pm

Join us and learn about:

The challenges facing people in this diverse and multicultural area, as seen by experts active in the area.
The help provided by local churches for families with young children and older and for faith communities from different ethnic origins.
Keeping children who might otherwise go without fed and entertained, thanks to Heeley City Farm.
How people who have just found accommodation, but have literally nothing to put in it are helped to turn it into a home by St Vincent’s Furniture Store.
The support and skills training provided for the homeless, vulnerable and socially excluded by St Wilfrid’s Centre.

Practicalities:

This year’s Pilgrimage route is comparatively flat, with one relatively short uphill section.
Parking is available in the Highfield area around Highfield Trinity Church.
The route is almost circular and the Pilgrimage’s end at St Wilfrid’s Centre is not far from Highfield Trinity Church.
A number of buses serve Highfield, including the 51, between Lodge Moor, Crosspool, Broomhill, Gleadless and Charnock, and the 47, 48 between Shiregreen, Firth Park, Burngrave, Arbourthorne, Gleadless Valley and Herdings.
Please follow stewards’ advice, particularly at road crossings.
Walkers take part at their own risk, please wear suitable footwear and bring a waterproof.
Anyone under 18 must walk with a responsible adult.
The event is not suitable for dogs as we enter premises.
We will stop for lunch at St Wilfrid’s Centre. Please bring your own packed lunch.
Some locations we visit have toilet facilities.
