From Access to Action training

Is your church delivering social action to serve your community? Would you like to find ways of involving a wider range of people in your church life and decision-making? ‘From Access to Action’ could help you explore the next steps on your journey.

Churches often do wonderful work tackling the effects of poverty in communities. But we’re not always so good at seeing the face of Christ in the people we serve. People who have lived experience of poverty often aren’t heard or included in churches’ decision-making.

So we wanted to share what we’ve learned at Church Action on Poverty over many years: ways of genuinely listening to people, working alongside them, and enabling full participation in the life of churches and projects.

‘From Access to Action’ is a one-day workshop for church workers which will start you on a journey that will help your church to listen more deeply, act more justly, and empower people with lived experience to lead the way.

Ideally, we like to run the workshop for multiple churches or groups within a region. For instance we had a fantastic recent session working with people from across North East England. Could you invite others to get involved through your dioceses, synod, or other networks? If so, please contact us on info@church-poverty.org.uk and let’s talk about how we could help you.
